Students place at UIL contests

Several students and teams from Nancy Smith Elementary School and Albany Junior High placed at the district A+Academics University Interscholastic League meets held during December. 

Writing exams were taken at the regular campuses. Speaking events were held in Stamford on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The remaining academic contests took place at Hawley on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

UIL rules group second through fifth graders in the elementary division, and place sixth through eighth grade together in the middle school section. 

Other schools in District 8-2A are Haskell, Hawley, Roscoe, Cross Plains, and Stamford.

Elementary Results

Nancy Smith Elementary placed third in the district UIL contest.

Middle School Results

Albany sixth through eighth graders were fifth with a school total of 352.83 points.

Stamford (1004.83) won the contest, followed by Haskell (676.5) in second. Cross Plains (497.5) barely edged out Hawley (496) for third. Roscoe (323.33) was sixth.

The totals included points won at the junior high one-act play contest on Thursday, Nov. 14, where Albany placed fifth.

Results for those who placed first through sixth in the December meets are listed below:

SECOND GRADE
