Students to get Friday off

Albany students and staff will have another holiday on Friday, Jan. 20 to allow participation in the Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show which starts Friday and ends on Saturday at the county show barn.

While all students will observe the holiday, faculty and staff will have the day off if they have “comp” days already earned.

The school just observed the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday, Jan. 16, which also served as a “comp” day for staff members.

The next student holiday is set for Monday, Feb. 20 to observe President’s Day. Teachers will work that date for staff development.

Spring break is scheduled for the week of March 13-17.

The final two holidays of the spring semester are planned set for Good Friday on March 7 and the following Monday, March 10 as part of the Easter break, provided the district does not have to use any “bad weather” days between now and then.
