Students to be dismissed early for Thanksgiving

Albany school students will be dismissed for the Thanksgiving holidays on Tuesday, Nov. 20 with a noon release time.

Classes will also be released slightly earlier on Monday, when the district will enact the usual Friday schedule, with all classes being released by 3:00 p.m.

In fact, the Friday schedule will be used starting on Thursday, Nov. 15, when the staff and student bodies at both campuses will get out early so Albany Lions fans can travel to San Angelo for the bi-district game against Rocksprings.

Secondary principal Edward Morales emphasized that students should not be picked up before the 3:00 p.m. dismissal time on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Nov. 20, preschool through high school students will be dismissed at various times, starting with the preschool and Head Start at 11:30 a.m. Parents will need to pick up their students or make other arrangements. 

All other grades will be released at 12:00 noon, including junior high and high school students. All buses will run at noon. 

The Thanksgiving holidays include Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 21 23.

Classes resume at the usual time Monday, Nov. 26.

Nancy Smith Elementary fifth grade students leave for Outdoor School at Camp Grady Spruce on Monday, Nov. 26 and return to Albany on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

The next scheduled school holiday for AISD students is Christmas break.
