Shackelford County Library’s annual summer children’s story hour program shifted to Wednesdays this week as the calendar switched to July.

Organizer Janna Ledbetter said the program will continue on Wednesdays as long as attendance warrants, even until school starts if children keep coming.

Story hour sessions are 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The program is designed to give children access to reading material during the summer and familiarize them with the local library. Preschool children must be accompanied by an adult. The program includes crafts and games related to each story.

After weekly animal themes in June, Ledbetter said topics will be more varied going forward. In the absence of guest speakers, story hour will include more crafts, songs, and games pertaining to each week’s story.

Registration is not required.
