Story hour to continue in July

The Shackelford County Library’s annual children’s story hour has one more Tuesday date left in June before moving to Wednesdays in July.

Program organizer Janna Ledbetter said attendance through the first three weeks of the program warranted adding more dates.

“We will not have special programs in July like we have this month – just story hour and maybe a craft project,” Ledbetter said. “We will continue through July unless attendance drops off.”

The first Wednesday program will be July 5. Story hour will continue to be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

During June, story hour has included presentations about animals from guest speakers. On Tuesday, June 20, Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell brought a horse to the library.

“We had a great turnout Tuesday,” Ledbetter said. “The kids were very good and very respectful. I gave a little talk in the library before we went out, and they did really well.”

The story hour program is geared toward preschool and early elementary children and is designed to give children access to reading material during the summer and familiarize them with the local library.

Preschool children must be accompanied by an adult. The program will include crafts and games related to each story.

Registration is not required to attend.
