While the Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show closed out in late January, the final payoff is still two weeks away.

Statements were mailed recently by the Shackelford County Youth & Livestock Association, and donors and bidders are asked to respond as quickly as possible.

Checks for animals sold at this year’s show will be distributed Friday, April 8. Before receiving their payout, exhibitors have a checklist of tasks to complete.

Checks will be handed out from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Albany Visitors Center parking lot.

Before claiming their money, students must have thank you notes written and ready to mail by Friday, April 1. Thank you notes must be placed in a stamped, addressed envelope and certified by Albany FFA advisor Chris Beard or Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell.

Exhibitors must also pay all outstanding balances due the stock show and clean pens for animals kept at the FFA barn by April 1. Beard said some exhibitors still owe for entry fees, project animals, FFA dues, meat/fruit/cookie sales, feed, gilt health papers and bleeding, and/or barrow health papers for the Fort Worth stock show.

April 1 is also the deadline to submit applications for Shackelford Youth and Livestock Association memorial scholarships. Seniors may obtain scholarship applications from their FFA advisors and submit the forms to Jenny Scott at the Albany Junior/Senior High School library.

Also in April, animal tags for spring, summer and fall shows must be ordered. Steer tags for Spring 2023 are $20, while heifer tags for Fall 2022 are $15. Orders must be placed by Saturday, April 23.

State Fair of Texas pig tags are $15 and must be ordered by Saturday, April 30.
