All third through 12th grade students attending public schools in Texas take the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STARR) and End of Course (EOC) tests in the spring.

The testing program is based on state curriculum standards in core subjects including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.

The tests are designed to measure what students have learned and whether they are ready for the next grade level.

Last year, all testing was cancelled due to COVID, but Albany students have been preparing for the 2021 test schedule that gets underway next Tuesday.

Schedule

This year, STAAR testing is offered on April 6-8, and May 3-12.

Local testing is currently scheduled for the following dates:

•April 6 – Grades 4 and 7 Writing; EOC English I; Grades 5 and 8 Math

•April 7 – Grades 5 and 8 Reading

•April 8 – EOC English II

•May 3-6 – EOC Algebra I, Biology, and US History

•May 5-6 – Grade 8 Science and Social Studies

•May 11 – Grades 3-8 Math

•May 12 – Grades 3-8 Reading, and Grade 5 Science.
