Stage finally dry enough for complete rehearsals

Four days in a row without rain allowed the stage and warm-up areas to dry out enough for horses, mules, and wagons to join the cast for rehearsals at the Prairie Theater on Monday.

Artistic director Lorna Ayers was pleased to see so many riders in the show this year.

“We are ‘putting the show together’ so rehearsals will be sticking to the schedule from this point out,” Ayers said. “We are planning on all horses and wagons to be participating in rehearsals as long as it doesn’t rain. If it does rain, we will determine if we can have horses on the field for that rehearsal or not, depending on how the moisture affects the stage.”

Costumes have been handed out, and anyone still needing a costume will need to contact Myra Hise.

Props are being finished up and expected to be ready for rehearsals this week.

Show Dates

Opening night of the 2019 Fort Griffin Fandangle is only eight days away. The bugle call and flag parade are set to begin at dusk, around 8:30 p.m., on Friday, June 21.

The other three performances of the 81st anniversary edition of the Fandangle will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, and Friday and Saturday, June 38 and 29.

Each performance is expected to last around one and a half hours.

The parade will be next Saturday, June 22, at 5:00 p.m. in downtown Albany.

Entry in the parade is free, and families, clubs, organizations, and individuals are all encouraged to register and participate.

Tickets

Two-hundred and fifty Fandangle tickets were purchased last week and sales are expected to increase as the show dates draw closer and media coverage increases.

Tickets for the summer shows can be purchased for $80 for a box of four seats, $120 for a box of six, $160 for a box of eight, or $15 each for reserved seats.

Tickets are available 24 hours a day online at fortgriffinfandangle.org. Tickets can also be purchased by phone at 325-762-3838 or in person at 2 Railroad Street when the office is open.

“The office is open pretty much every day, Monday through Friday,” said office manager Lyn Baker. “We usually have someone there from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, and then again from 12:30 until around 3:00 p.m.”
