Only a couple of spots remain in a kids golf camp that is planned for Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 10-12 at the Albany golf course.

Because there is limited space on the driving range, the event is only open to 20 students from age six to 11, according to Ken Lawrence of the Albany Kiwanis Club, who is organizing the camp.

Sign-ups went fast, he said, and at press time on Tuesday, there was room for just two more campers.

Golf professionals from the Abilene Country Club will instruct, focusing on proper golf grips, swing and stance, chipping, pitching, and putting, along with golf etiquette.

There is a $45 fee, but the Albany Kiwanis Club is providing scholarships to all those who need them, up to 20 students.

Participants should come to the golf course about 8:45 a.m. on each of the three mornings, meeting at the driving range located behind the #8 green and #9 tee box.

Students should be picked up at 11:00 a.m. as the camp concludes.

The Abilene Country Club staff will be bringing clubs for use during the day camp, but they may not have enough for all participants.

Check at King & Robertson Insurance Agency to see if there are spots available.
