Three Albany entrants placed with their barrows recently at the Houston Livestock Show.

Creed Spencer won division champion with his mediumweight crossbred after placing first in his class. Crew Spencer placed fourth in his class with a heavyweight Poland.

Also, Slayton Parsons placed 10th with his heavyweight Poland.

The students are among nearly two dozen Albany FFA members exhibiting animal projects at two major livestock shows this month.

At the Houston Livestock Show, which wraps up Sunday, March 19, 17 FFA members had 19 projects entered.

Jake Hale entered a pen of commercial steers, Gracie Price had a heifer and a steer, and Ryan Turner had a goat and a barrow. Kenzie Neve and Hattie Braly join Price in the steer show.

Others exhibiting barrows were Chelsy Parsons, Leddie Leech, Callan Edgar, Colter Edgar, Cash Edgar, Cooper Edgar, Tye Edgar, Tatum Grady, and Paige Price.

All of the Edgars, the Spencers, Grady, Turner, Slayton Parsons, Paige Price, and Emily Schedule entered barrows at the Star of Texas show, which runs through Saturday, March 25 in Austin. Neve and Braly have steers entered, while Madailein Beard and Myleigh Leveridge are showing heifers.

Tye Edgar, Chelsy Parsons, and Shackelford County 4-H member Connor Smith all made the sale with their barrows at last month’s San Antonio show.
