Albany stock show participants have been on the road the last few weeks exhibiting in Anson, Dallas, and Waco.

The State Fair of Texas youth stock show joined the Heart O’ Texas livestock show in Waco this year as a result of the pandemic social distancing rules.

Swine

Albany senior Hannah Snyder showed at the State Fair in Dallas on Sunday, Sept. 27 and took home first place in the heavy weight Hampshire class, then went on to claim the title of Champion Hampshire.

The Champion Hampshire went to sale and was sold on Friday, Oct. 2.

Albany FFA advisor Chris Beard said that Snyder was also approached at the fair by the Purple Circle Magazine for an interview about her involvement with her pigs.

She will be featured in an upcoming issue of the Purple Circle, America’s Youth Livestock Magazine.

Also showing at the State Fair of Texas swine show was Tatum Grady, placing 10th in Class 18 Hampshire.

Other swine exhibitors were Carli, Callan, and Colter Edgar.

All swine participants will show at the Heart O’ Texas livestock show in Waco next Saturday and Sunday, Oct.17-18.

 Steer

Kenzie Neve and Hattie Jo Braly both had a successful steer show this past weekend at the Jones County Fair in Anson.

Neve won first place with her medium weight English breed and took home Champion of the English breed, then came back to win overall Reserve Champion of the steer show.

Braly won first and second place with her heavy weight English breed.

Exhibitor Myleigh Leveridge took her steers to the HOT show in Waco this past weekend.

Leveridge placed sixth with her Shorthorn Plus, and participated in the Maintainer show.
