Hannah Snyder placed well with all three of the barrows she showed at the Gillespie County Fair last Saturday, Aug. 24, winning a reserve champion breed banner, as well as winning two first and a third place ribbon.

Snyder won Reserve Champion Hampshire.

The Albany High junior also claimed a class blue ribbon with the heavy weight Hampshire, and took first in her heavy weight cross class.

Snyder’s Duroc was selected third in its lightweight class.

Hannah’s grandfather Mike Parsons noted that the breeder of the reserve champion Hampshire, Travis Platt, will be bringing animals to the upcoming pig sale in Shackelford County.

First Impressions Pig Sale will be held at the county livestock show barn on Sept. 14 and 15. The annual pig sale is a fundraiser for the Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Association show.

The Gillespie County Fair in Fredericksburg is the oldest continuous county fair in the state of Texas, first held in 1881.
