Ski trip shifted to Colorado

Approximately two dozen junior high and high school students, along with adult leaders, had to deal with a last-minute change of plans but were able to enjoy their ski trip over the Christmas holiday.

Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church pastor Anthony Ceder said the annual trip wound up at a different resort in a different state.

“We were supposed to go to Angel Fire in New Mexico, but they only had one inch of snow on the slopes, not evough to ski,” Ceder said. “Our travel agent was able to pull off quite an accomplishment at the last minute and shift our trip to Winter Park, Colorado.”

Ceder said the trip, which was held Dec. 18-22, featured fellowship, music, and contemplation in addition to time on the slopes.

“Every night, we’d have dinner and a series of games to create some joy,” he said. “Michael Cotter led the musical worship, then the leaders gave testimonies each night and each morning, and there were messages at night that focused on Christmas deeds.”

The youth also engaged in discussion groups.

“We’d break the students up into small groups to discuss their current spiritual state,” Ceder said. “It was a great time in the middle of the school year to sit them down and refocus.”

Adult leaders for the trip included Ceder, Becky and Callan Wills, Courtney Clegg, and Michael and Maeg Cotter.
