This Sunday afternoon, members of the Albany Ministerial Alliance along with volunteers from the community, will deliver the Alliance’s annual Christmas baskets to those in Albany and Moran who have requested home delivery of the food boxes, and those who wish to help spread some holiday cheer are invited to come to The Feed Store and join the gift giving.

“We always welcome extra helpers, and they can either deliver a route, or jump in and assist another group if all of the routes are covered,” said Alliance secretary Tisha Wilkins.

The perishable items will be added to baskets at The Feed Store around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, shortly before volunteers deliver the food.

Delivery of the Christmas Baskets is scheduled to take place between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. that afternoon.

Recipients are required to have someone at their house when the food is delivered, as the food can not be left on the doorstep.

On Wednesday, sixth grade leadership students from Nancy Smith Elementary picked up the non-perishable food stuff from Brookshire’s and sorted those items into the Christmas food boxes at The Feed Store.

Contained in each of baskets will be an entree item (ham, turkey, or turkey breast), canned goods, and other staples – in all, enough food to prepare a traditional holiday meal.

Sixty families from Albany and Moran turned in applications for the boxes this year.

Wilkins has prepared maps and instructions for packing and delivering the Christmas boxes.

“It will probably only take about 30 minutes, but it’s hard to tell because we never know how many volunteers will show up,” said Wilkins.

Donations for the holiday meals can still be handed to any of the ministers in the Alliance or mailed to the Ministerial Alliance at PO Box 3084, Albany, Texas 76430.
