Albany FFA students wrapped up their participation at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and now turn their attention to Star of Texas in Austin.

“Albany FFA had a great showing at the 2023 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo,” chapter adviser Chris Beard said. “Congratulations to all exhibitors.”

In the cattle show, Hattie Braly took first place with her Red Angus steer, earning the breed’s lightweight champion title.

Gracie Price placed first with her Maine-Anjou heifer and finished as the breed’s reserve champion junior heifer.

Kenzie Neve placed seventh with her Shorthorn steer.

Three more Albany FFA entries placed in the barrow show, giving the chapter a total of six placing hogs.

Cooper Edgar had a sixth place Duroc, Chelsy Parsons had a ninth place Duroc, and Callan Edgar had an 11th place Crossbred. The trio joined Creed Spencer, Crew Spencer, and Slayton Parsons, who were entered in the first wave.

All exhibitors who placed made the sale.

At the Star of Texas, which ends Sunday, March 29, Albany FFA has 12 barrows, two steers, and two heifers entered.
