Monday, Sept. 16, is a fifth day optional/required school day at Moran Independent School District.

“Please remember that only students with excellent attendance, behavior, citizenship, and classroom performance are permitted to take these optional days off,” said superintendent Danny Freeman. “If you have not been contacted directly by your child’s teacher, then please send your student to school.”

According to the superintendent, about one-third of the students took advantage of the first of a total of 12 optional/required school days scheduled on the MISD 2019-2020 calendar last month on Friday, Aug. 30.

“We’ll do a better job (this time) of setting up a more finalized list of which students need to attend,” he said. “This is a great opportunity for all students to get specific, targeted academic instruction. In the event your child is not required to attend, but you would like to send them for academic extension services, then as always, feel free to send them to school.”

Children who attend school on Monday, Sept. 16 will be released at 12:00 noon.

Other Activities

Grandparents were invited to join their grandchildren for breakfast and/or lunch on Monday, Sept. 9 for Grandparents Day.

Last Friday, Sept. 6, many Moran students dressed up for pajama day, and several took part in Dancing with the Dawgs during the afternoon pep rally.

Upcoming dress-up days at school include camo this Friday, Sept. 13 and an 80s theme next Friday, Sept. 20.

Mini cheerleaders helped lead cheers at the recent pep rally, and they will also participate in upcoming pep rallies on Oct. 4, 10, and 17.
