A whirlwind of activities is about to begin as members of the Albany High School Class of 2024 face a busy May schedule, ending with commencement exercises on May 24. Photographs have already been turned in for the senior slide show, and one baby picture per senior should also be delivered to the Albany News for the annual graduation section. Pictures and bio information from each senior also need to be delivered to the news office by Tuesday May 7.

All seniors and the six junior ushers need to return Project Graduation forms to the school office by Monday, May 13 in order to attend the all night party. Caps and gowns will be delivered to seniors Friday, May 17. National Honor Society and FFA sashes, and blood donation cords will be loaned from the high school as well as the valedictorian and salutatorian sashes.

Students will receive their sashes before Baccalaureate and graduation exercises.

Members of the senior class will meet at the high school gym parking lot at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18 to ride a school bus to the annual Progressive Dinner.

André Raymond will be the guest speaker at the Baccalaureate ceremony at 4:00 p.m. at the high school auditorium, which will also include the First Baptist Church’s traditional Bible presentation. Graduation practice will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23 in the Albany High School gym. Pictures will be taken at that time. Seniors should bring caps, gowns, and tassels to the practice. Stoles will be passed out there.

Graduation exercises will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, in the local gym, followed by a reception honoring the seniors at the Whitney Theatre.

Project Graduation will begin at 10:30 p.m. later that evening with all graduates and junior ushers checking in at the high school. The seniors voted earlier in the semester to stay in town, with activities taking place at various Albany locations. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. The all-night party will end at the gym at 5:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25.
