Senior citizens elect officers

Two new members were elected to the Senior Citizen Board for a total of 10 directors after being nominated by fellow members and guests at a meeting on Sept. 16.

New board members are Don Hare – county liaison and Anita Jackson – reporter/information officer.

Annette Harris had been appointed to the board in a previous meeting to fill a vacancy left by Mozelle Bartee’s departure.

New officers elected during the meeting included Annette Harris – president, Betty Jones – vice president, Mary Beth Jones – secretary, Emma Hudman – treasurer, Anita Jackson – reporter, and Don Hare – county liaison.

Other board members include Dorothy Adkins, Jolene Hudman, Tracy Sullivan-Smith, and Susan Montgomery.

Lynn Simon will be the social media coordinator for the group.

The board voted to provide a meal on the first Friday of the month, prepared by Annette Harris and other volunteers.

On third Fridays of each month, the Resource Care furnishes a main course and local churches provide the sides and desserts. The October meal will consist of baked chicken, with sides brought by First Christian Church.

Also the churches give at least 15 bingo prizes for games at 10:00 a.m. every Friday.

All senior ctitizens are invited to attend.

“We would love to see everyone there,” Harris said.

The Center is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for additional games and fellowship.
