The Albany Athletic Booster Club has several activities planned in preparation for Albany’s bi-district playoff game with the Miles Bulldogs tonight.

The game will be held at the Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Thursday Schedule

Beating the spirit drum began Wednesday after the 7:30 p.m. pep rally at Bank Park and will continue until shortly before today’s send-off. The cheerleaders took the first shift and other Lion fans kept up the activity all through the night.

The traditional “send-off” of the football team is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon (today). Fans are asked to gather in the Albany downtown area for the send-off.

Classes at AISD will release at the normal time of 3:30 p.m. today (Thursday).

“We will be having a regular school day on Thursday,” said Albany Junior/Senior High School principal Edward Morales.

According to Morales, the football team is leaving at 2:45 p.m. and the band will be leaving between 3:45 and 4:00 p.m.

The drive from Albany to Brownwood typically only takes one and a half hours, but travelers may want to allow a few extra minutes due to road construction on Highway 183 between Cisco and Rising Star.

Game Tickets

Tickets to the bi-district playoff game will be available at the gate at a cost of $5 for adults and $3 for students and children. All passes will be accepted.

Albany will sit on the home side of the 7,800 seat venue which is located at 3206 Milan Drive.

Playoff T-Shirts

Playoff T-shirt orders were placed on Monday, and those that pre-ordered shirts were able to pick them up at the pep rally yesterday.

Only a few extra shirts were printed, and any that are not already spoken for will be available for purchase until they are sold out. The shirts are priced at $20 for short sleeve, and  $25 for long sleeve.

Fans can also order Albany football hoodies. The hoodies are available in cotton or Dri Fit.

The deadline to place an order is 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15.

Prices range from $30 to $48, and orders must be paid for in advance.

Those with questions can text Shayna Duke at 325-721-1438.

Other Activities

Parents of varsity football players have decorated the team bus.

Chris Beard donated the spirit drum, and it was painted by Kyle and Shawnee Tischler.

The football team sat down to the traditional team dinner on Wednesday.

The community pep rally took place at the Bank Park at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, and was followed by the all-night beating of the spirit drum.

The winner of tonight’s bi-district playoff match will take on the winner of the Windthorst and Shamrock game also scheduled for Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. and taking place at Iowa Park.
