Members of Cub Scout Pack 255 have two community service projects scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17, as well as an ongoing project to send Christmas Cards to nursing home residents in surrounding communities.

The Cub Scouts will start Saturday by helping place wreaths at Albany Cemetery as part of the National Wreaths Across America Day observance.

The Cub Scouts will then go caroling through Albany on Saturday evening.

“We’ll meet at 5:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church and go from there depending on how long the kids last,” Wolf Den leader Tiffany Waddell said.

In addition, local Cub Scouts are in the process of preparing and mailing more than 200 Christmas cards to nursing home residents.

“We are sending Christmas cards to Breckenridge, Eastland, Ranger, and Cisco,” Waddell said. “We’ve already mailed out the ones to Ranger and Cisco.”

One hurdle the Scouts have had to clear is a lack of supplies.

“People do not have Christmas cards this year,” Waddell said. “I have a friend who can print things like that. He expects to get some to me Friday and we’ll finish those up and get them out.”

Waddell said this is the first year for the Scouts to send cards to those who otherwise might not receive Christmas greetings.

“We’ve got five kids in the younger group, the Wolf and Bear Dens, and we keep them pretty busy with community service,” she said.

Christmas Party

Pack 255 will hold its Christmas party at 5:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 at the Scout Shack.

Upcoming events for 2023 include the Pinewood Derby on Monday, Jan. 23, and the Blue & Gold Banquet on Monday, Feb. 27.
