Albany Cub Scout Pack 255 made its annual donation of winter clothing to Closet Angels on Monday, Dec. 5.

Pack leader Teri Lucas said the yearly project is intended to provide needed items to the clothing ministry.

“We try to get winter socks, hats, gloves, thermal underwear, jackets, whatever to donate to Closet Angels,” Lucas said. “The boys don’t really solicit for it. They just take stuff they have or maybe they go buy something.”

Lucas said this year’s contribution was on par with past years.

“We had more jackets this year,” she said. “Some people donated winter clothes that they had.”

Popcorn Sales

Pack 255 members spent last week delivering popcorn that was sold as part of a fundraiser.

Lucas said more than $3,000 was raised through the drive.

“We took orders earli9er in the fall and made the deliveries last week,” she said.

Christmas Party

Pack 255 will hold its Christmas party at 5:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 at the Scout Shack.

“After our Christmas party, we won’t have much going on until school starts back again,” Lucas said.

Upcoming events for 2023 include the Pinewood Derby in January and Blue & Gold Banquet in February.

Luminary Sale

Pack 255 Wolf and Bear Scouts are selling luminaries to raise funds to help cover medical expenses for Albany student Adalyn Kirby.

Wolf Den leader Tiffany Waddell said luminaries will be sold for $5 each and can include a message. All the money raised will go to the Kirby family to help with upcoming expenses.

“We are hoping to light them around the New Year’s, but that will depend on shipping of candles, weather, etc.,” Waddell said.
