Representatives of local organizations and boards that award scholarships to Albany High School graduates are asked to contact Ann Riley at the AHS office by Monday, March 23.

The office will be closed next week for spring break, but will be open again for regular hours on Monday, March 16.

Riley added that the scholarship list will be uploaded to the district’s website and distributed to local seniors by Friday, March 27, informing them of the requirements for specific scholarships.

“Some scholarships have a form the student needs to fill out; others require the student to write a letter,” Riley said.

The seniors must then turn in their application letters by Wednesday, April 15, Riley stated.

The packets of letters will be organized and ready for representatives of the organizations to pick up by 12:00 noon on Friday, April 17, and then the organizations should notify the school concerning their selections by Friday, May 1.

“Scholarship selections need to be in my office by May 1,” said Riley. “Please get the names of the students chosen for the awards back to the high school office by then. If it would help, the organization’s representative can send the information to my email account.”

The AHS office number is 325-762-3974 and Riley’s email address is ariley@albany.esc14.net.

If organizations gave an award last year, but they don’t plan to give in 2020, a representative is asked to call Riley with that information.

“We would really appreciate it if representatives of all the organizations would let us know what their plans are as far as the amount and number of scholarships they plan to give this year,” Riley said. “We try to call as many as we can, but we don’t always have a contact person.”
