Basic information about scholarships being awarded to this year’s graduating class at Albany High School is needed by the first part of next week.

Ann Riley at the AHS office needs to update her list of available scholarships and requirements and would like to be contacted by the end of the day on Monday, March 27.

Representatives of scholarship boards can email Riley at ariley@albany.esc14.net or call her at 325-762-3974.

Emails should include the name of the scholarship, amounts of each award if available, requirements for applications such as a special form or essay, and a contact name and phone number in case Riley has questions.

Riley stated that the completed scholarship list will be uploaded to the district’s website and distributed to local seniors by Friday, April 10 informing them of the requirements for specific scholarships.

“Some scholarships have a form the student needs to fill out; others require the student to write a letter,” Riley said.

The seniors must then turn in their application letters by Friday, April 21, Riley stated.

The packets of letters will be organized and ready for representatives of the organizations to pick up by 12:00 noon on Monday, April 24, and then the organizations should notify the school concerning their selections by Wednesday, May 10, preferably before.

“Scholarship selections need to be in my office by May 10,” said Riley. “Please get the names of the students chosen for the awards back to the high school office by then. I can’t accept them after that date.”

If organizations gave an award last year, but they don’t plan to give in 2023, a representative is asked to call Riley with that information.

“We would really appreciate it if representatives of all the organizations would let us know what their plans are as far as the amount and number of scholarships they plan to give this year,” Riley said. “We try to call as many as we can, but we don’t always have a contact person.”
