Scholarship info needed Monday
By Melinda L. Lucas
Basic information about scholarships being awarded to this year’s graduating class at Albany High School is needed by the first part of next week.
Ann Riley at the AHS office needs to update her list of available scholarships and requirements and would like to be contacted by the end of the day on Monday, March 21.
School offices are closed this week for spring break, but representatives of scholarship boards can go ahead and email Riley at ariley@albany.esc14.net so she will have the information when she returns to work.
Emails should include the name of the scholarship, amounts of each award if available, requirements for applications such as a special form or essay, and a contact name and phone number in case Riley has questions.
Riley stated that the completed scholarship list will be uploaded to the district’s website and distributed to local seniors by Friday, March 25 informing them of the requirements for specific scholarships.
“Some scholarships have a form the student needs to fill out; others require the student to write a letter,” Riley said.
The seniors must then turn in their application letters by Wednesday, April 13, Riley stated.
The packets of letters will be organized and ready for representatives of the organizations to pick up by 12:00 noon on Friday, April 15, and then the organizations should notify the school concerning their selections by Monday, April 25.
“Scholarship selections need to be in my office by April 25,” said Riley. “Please get the names of the students chosen for the awards back to the high school office by then.”
The AHS office number is 325-762-3974 for those who need to call rather than email.
If organizations gave an award last year, but they don’t plan to give in 2022, a representative is asked to call Riley with that information.
