This weekend’s Fandangle Sampler at the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering could mean a future performance in a bigger venue.

More than 40 cast members are making final preparations for a show on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, to be staged at 2:00 p.m. in the Stampede Room.

Fandangle creative director Lorna Ayers is enthusiastic about the invitation to perform at the Cowboy Gathering.

“If we make an impression this weekend, we hope to be able to do a performance in the arena next year that would include horses and wagons,” said Ayers.

She encouraged local people to come to the Stockyards on Saturday to support the Fandangle.

“The better the turnout, the more exposure the Fandangle gets,” said Ayers.

Steagall’s Cowboy Gathering was created to recognize the men and women who make their living horseback working cattle and providing beefsteak for the dinner tables of America.

“The Fandangle is the only show of its kind and part of the ongoing effort to preserve Texas history,” Ayers said. “Our ideology fits perfectly with the ranching heritage that the American Paint Horse Association, who sponsors the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering, is also preserving.”

Day passes for events only, which do not include the rodeo, are $30. A day pass with a rodeo tickets ranges from $60 to $80.
