ResourceCare case worker Makenzie Marshall reminded everyone that the annual Adopt-a-Buddy school supply program is underway, and she is hoping to hear from those that can use a little help, as well as those who can provide assistance for local students.

In just three weeks tardy bells will ring out the start of a new school year, and parents that need help providing their children with school supplies can register to be included in the free program.

“Applications can be picked up at Resource Care,” said Marshall. “Those must be turned back in by the deadline on Wednesday, Aug. 1.”

ResourceCare will be accepting donations for Adopt-a-Buddy from now through Wednesday, Aug. 8, with residents asked to drop off supplies or donations at the center.

“Donations are appreciated,” said Marshall. “We can use anything on the school supply lists including pencils, markers, crayons, spiral notebooks, and paper. We can also use donations for backpacks.”

Junior high and high school parents can register as well. Older students will receive basic paper, spiral notebooks, pens, pencils, and highlighters.

Local residents are encouraged to donate new school supplies, backpacks, or to make monetary donations to benefit the school supply program.

Distribution is set for Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Youth Center.

More information is available by calling the Resource Center at 325-762-2447.

Contributions can be addressed to Attn: Adopt-a-Buddy, PO Box 2435, Albany TX 76430.
