Renditions due May 15

Typically, local business owners would have to come up with more money if they hadn’t filed renditions by today, according to Shackelford CAD County chief appraiser Clayton Snyder.

“Under normal circumstances, taxpayers would be required to file their personal property renditions by Thursday, April 15, 2021,” said Snyder. “However, I’ve decided to extend the deadline to May 15, 2021 due to the natural disaster declaration for the Texas winter storm.”

He added that chief appraisers are also allowed by the state to grant or deny an additional 15-day extension for requests made by May 15 in writing for “good cause shown.”

Anyone who in the past has paid taxes on personal property in Shackelford County should have already received a rendition form and reminder letter earlier this year.

Taxpayers who didn’t receive a form or who have misplaced theirs can contact the local tax office at 325-762-2207 or download a form by clicking on the forms tab on the CAD website, shackelfordcad.com. There are separate forms for real property and business personal property.

Snyder said that his office has copies of last year’s renditions if business owners need them.

The chief appraiser noted that taxpayers can be granted an exemption on one business vehicle by filling out a special form before May 1. The taxpayer must use the vehicle for both business and personal use.
