Rehearsals for the 2022 version of the Fort Griffin Fandangle have begun in earnest with a full slate of practices scheduled on each Sunday through Thursday during the month of May.

The first general rehearsal was held Tuesday, with many of the parts assigned for both singing and acting roles. However, director Lorna Ayers stressed that everyone who wants to participate in the show should make all future rehearsals if possible.

“We still have spots to fill, and we need to do that as quickly as possible,” she said. “We don’t have a general practice Thursday (tonight) due to a conflict, but we will every week starting next Tuesday.”

The first rehearsal for children who want to be in the Indian Prairie and square dancing is set for Sunday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. and will continue on Sundays for the remainder of the month.

The second-half street scene and Beehive scene will be rehearsed on Monday nights at 7:30 p.m., with teenagers in Huppi Hi and the train scenes on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

“We will practice all the big numbers on Tuesdays and Thursdays, along with a couple of specialty scenes each evening,” Ayers said. “You need to follow the schedule to make sure you are there when we need you.”

The rehearsal schedule will be available at practices, but can also be found on the Fandangle website at www.fortgriffinfandangle.org. Click on the cast tab at the top of the home page and use the code 2022 to enter to see the schedule.

There are also recordings of the songs used in major production numbers on the cast page of the website for newer cast members to access.

Ayers said that all cast and crew should start parking in the cast parking lot so as not to block access by the backstage crew to sets and props.

Performance dates for the show are June 17-18 and June 24-25, with the annual parade set for Saturday, June 18.

Tickets are currently on sale on the website or can be obtained by calling the Fandangle office at 325-762-3838.

“We also need everyone to sign a release form when they first come to practices,” she said. “We will have plenty available, but everyone needs to sign one for themselves and their family.”

Registration forms are also required this year for all children in the show and will be available prior to each rehearsal.

Currently, there are no rehearsals planned for Friday or Saturday nights, but that could change if scheduled practices are rained out.
