The Old Jail Art Center  will offer virtual student summer workshops each week during the month of August for first through sixth graders.

Camp videos will be posted each morning at 10:00 a.m. and will include step-by-step crafts and activities led by OJAC educators.

Camp kits including supplies and materials for each day will be mailed to the address provided by the registrant. Kits will include a special password for access to each week’s camp videos.

Cultural Connections Camp: India will be held Aug. 3-5 and will explore  the art and culture of a country represented in the OJAC collection.

Campers will investigate the music, food, and art of India. The kits will come complete with traditional snacks and gifts.

Things on Strings: Puppet Workshop is the theme of the second week of virtual camp from Aug. 10-12.

Students will be guided by professional puppeteers and will design and construct their own kinetic artwork.

Camp kits will include flashlights and a performance stage.

The final week of camp is Frontier Fort Kids and will be posted Aug. 17-19.

Students will explore life at a Texas fort in the 1800s through historical crafts and activities.

Once again, the camp kits also will contain traditional snacks and gifts.

All workshops are limited to 30 students and are free to members of the Old Jail. Cost to non-members is $15 per camp, however, anyone may become a member at any time.

Students can be registered at theojac.org/summer-workshops. Registration ends on Friday, July 9.
