Registration deadline nears
By Donnie A. Lucas
This is the final week to register for the annual summer Day Camp sponsored by ResourceCare, with 120 campers registered so far.
Parents can sign up children ages three through sixth grade online through Friday, June 30.
The program will be held on July 10-14 and July 24-28 this year.
ResourceCare is looking for additional sponsors to help meet the cost of the program, and sponsorships also have a June 30 deadline.
“We’re taking sponsorships through Friday as well,” ResourceCare’s Mindy Ary said. “The name of all sponsors will be printed on the camp t-shirts.”
Anyone interested in helping sponsor the camp can contact the Resource Care at 325-762-2447, or mail checks to Resource Care, Attn: Summer Day Camp, P.O. Box 2435, Albany, TX 76430 or delivered to local ResourceCare office.
Parents are asked to notice that Day Camp is only two weeks again this year instead of the usual three-week period, and there is an open week in between.
Parents can find the link on ResourceCare’s Facebook page or scan the QR code that accompanies this article. Required paperwork will need to be completed by a parent for children to attend, including permission and allergy forms, as well as prescription release forms for campers who need to be administered medications during camp hours.
Ary suggested that parents follow the Albany Summer Day Camp Facebook page to be notified of any updates and changes, such as excessive heat warnings.
“If the days continue to be this hot, it may limit some of our outdoor activities,” Ary said earlier this week.
High school students who want to be considered for paid counselor positions must contact ResourceCare as soon as possible. Junior high students are also able to volunteer for non-paid positions.
The camp is funded in part by the Albany Chest, along with donations and fundraising events such as CareFest.
Donations are still being sought to help fund the camp.
