Registration for the Albany Chamber of Commerce’s Community Garage Sale continued this week with Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones reporting the event has reached 10 participants signed up.

“We’ve got a few more who have called or come in when they’ve had a chance,” Jones said. “People are working around my schedule, and I’m working around their work schedules. I know more people are still talking about coming in and signing up.”

The garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10. Registration will close on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The Chamber traditionally sponsors the city-wide event on the second Saturday of September.

A $10 registration fee covers inclusion on a map of garage sale participants and a yard sign.

Jones said she expects a wide variety of items to be popular with shoppers.

“We have people coming in from out of town, and I think it just depends on what a person is looking for,” she said. “I think they’ll look for more than just clothes, whether it’s furniture, household goods, or items like that.”

Signs will be ready to pick up the week of the event.

Jones said maps will be available at the Chamber office at 7:00 a.m. on the day of the sale.

For more information or to register, call the Chamber office at 325-762-2525.

Chamber Lunch

Jones said there will not be a Chamber lunch this week because of the Labor Day holiday weekend.

“Starting Friday, Sept. 9, we will be at the Beehive through September and October,” she said.

Decorations

Jones said the Chamber volunteers will erect fall street decorations on Saturday, Oct. 8.

“We’ll start getting ready around Oct. 1 to get everything ready to hang up,” she said. “Decoration day will be the week before homecoming.”

Jones said anyone interested in helping should show up downtown that morning. For more information, contact the Chamber office.
