Officers for the Albany Parent Teacher Organization made the call to cancel the annual Albany Fall Fest for this year, a decades-old event normally held the last Saturday in October.

“This was such a difficult decision,” said Malarie Sutton, PTO president and Fall Fest organizer.

She said the health and safety of students and the community is the number one concern and the reason for the cancellation.

“For the last several years, I have poured my heart and soul into the event along with others to make sure the students and community have the best experience possible,” Sutton added. “It breaks my heart knowing that we will not be able to have such a special activity this year.”

Sutton said in the past, funds raised during the Fall Fest benefit all students at Albany ISD. Without this event, future fundraising plans are being planned by the PTO to support both campuses.

“The support I have received makes me excited, and I look forward to Fall Fest 2021,” Sutton reported.

The 2020-2021 PTO officers serving with Sutton are vice president Christina Hargett, and treasurer Nikki Cradduck, along with Shayna Duke, Alison Gardenhire, and Ragan Riley.
