Albany High School juniors and seniors and their guests gathered “Under the Stars” Saturday night at the Whitney Theatre to celebrate Prom 24.

Senior brother and sister duo Tyler and Jaci Chapman were crowned Prom King and Queen, chosen from a list of six senior nominees for the honor.Onlymembersofthe junior and senior classes were eligible to vote.

Nominees for Prom King included Chapman, Brayden Watson, and Jaxson Hoel. The Prom Queen nominees included Chapman, Braylyn Abbate, and Callan Edgar.

The prom was hosted by the junior class with parents and sponsors providing snacks, including nuggets from Chick-fil-A and a neon candy bar.

Entertainment was provided by DJ, Key City Entertainment, and local photographer Chelsea Parsons photographed the attendees at no extra cost.

Tyler and Jaci’s parents are Jacob and Tara Chapman. Tyler has attended Albany schools K-12 and plans to attend Tyler Junior College to further his education and to continue his baseball career. He has been involved in many various organizations and sports including football and baseball.

He has been a class officer all four years of high school, participated in One Act Play, FCCLA, Feed Store student council, FFA, UIL academic speakingevents,andschool newspaper as sports editor, winning state awards including first place sports story and second place sports feature story.

He has been active in student council serving as parliamentarianasasenior andisatwoyearmemberof theNationalHonorSociety.

Tyler has participated in football all four years of high school, earning Defensive Newcomer of the Year and First Team tight end. In baseball he also participated all four years, winning several awards in the process: Big Country Preps First Team Starting Third Baseman, 2023 Albany MVP, Go Big or Go Home Award.

Jaci attended Albany Schools K-12 and plans to pursueacareerinthemedical field after high school. She has been active in several organizationsthroughout her high school career including One Act Play, UIL academics, FCCLA, and FFA. She has been an officer in Student Council the last three years and reporterforNationalHonor Society. She also served as assistant photo editor and staff writer for the Lions Roar. She has been a class officer the past four years and was named DAR Good Citizen this year.

Jaci has participated in volleyball, basketball, cross country, and tennis, qualifying for state in girls doubles as a junior. She was awarded MVP mixed doubles her freshman and sophomore years and Girls Doubles MVP as a junior.
