Project Graduation is taking a different approach in its fundraising efforts for the Albany High School Class of 2023, but the end goal remains the same.

Organizer Amanda Tabor said the project will not conduct a Valentine sale this year, but earlier efforts have gone well.

“We’ve already done cookie dough sales and had a booth at Fall Fest in October,” she said. “What we have planned next is to do some Sunday meals in January and February.”

Tabor said exact dates for the meals are still being worked out, but she expects to offer meals at least two or three times.

“We will be sending out a donation letter in March so people can donate to the Class of 2023,” Tabor said.

Project Graduation, an all-night party free of drugs and alcohol following commencement exercises, has been held annually in Albany since 1988. Tabor said this year’s senior class has provided input for the event.

“We did a survey in October of what the kids want that night to look like and some activities they wanted to do,” she said. “Some of the activities they picked are different from what’s been done in the past.”
