Commencement may be more than four months away, but fundraising for Albany’s 2022 Project Graduation is moving into high gear.

Kenzie Fairchild, one of the parents organizing the event, said the first of three fundraisers scheduled for January started this week.

“On Wednesday, all students elementary through high school received order forms for our Project Graduation Valentine sale,” Fairchild said. “We’ll have Oreo truffles and little gifts like stuffed animals. Those forms will be due Jan. 31 and items will be delivered on Feb. 14.”

Fairchild said the sale has been well received in the past.

“This is exactly what last year’s seniors did,” she said. “The only things changing are the dates on the form.”

Also scheduled is a bake sale in the foyer of the gym during Albany’s Jan. 14 basketball games against Stamford.

On Jan. 30, chicken spaghetti lunches will be served to go from 11:30 a.m. until sold out at The Feed Store. There is no set charge for the meals, but donations will be accepted.

Project Graduation, an all-night party free of drugs and alcohol following commencement exercises, has been held annually in Albany since 1988. This year, 34 seniors will graduate on May 27.
