Albany city manager Billy Holson reviewed his recommended 2022-2023 budget figures with council members at their Monday, Feb. 14 meeting, but no action was taken on the $3.475 million document.

The bottom line is more than the current year’s $3.1M starting budget, but Holson explained salaries for several additional employees are built in the new budget, with hopes of having enough personnel later in the year to complete some street repairs and other capital improvements.

Also, no donation projections are included on the revenue side. Holson mentioned that there had been about $585,000 in donations in various categories such as the Aztec, parks, airport, and golf course during the current budget year, adding his appreciation for the continued support of Albany citizens.

Council members expressed confidence in the budget numbers and didn’t feel there was a need to schedule budget workshops over the next few weeks.

The budget must be officially proposed and a public hearing scheduled before the new fiscal year begins April 1.
