The annual Splash Day at the Albany city pool is scheduled for Wednesday, June 1.

The facility will be open free of charge to the general public from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. to start the beginning of the summer.

Savannah Maberry, Meg Walser, and Mikaela Jones are co-managing the pool this year. They have already put in quite a few hours getting the facility ready for the opening – deep cleaning, power washing, sanitizing restrooms and the concession area, and painting cabinets.

Also in the works are several healthy additions to the concession stand menu.

After two full days of training, 24 lifeguards are certified and ready to start work next week, according to Maberry.

The lifeguards will attend the June 13 city council meeting at the request of Albany mayor Susan Montgomery.

Fees

Daily entrance fees to the pool during normal hours will be $2.50 per person.

Local residents may purchase pool passes at the swimming pool. A summer pool pass is $100 for an individual and $200 for a family pass for all family members living in the same household.

Individual and family passes do not cover admission to family swim time on Tuesday evenings or during private rental times.

Regular Pool Hours

Tuesday through Saturday, the pool will be open 12:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday hours will be 2:00-5:00 p.m., and the pool will be closed on Sundays.

There will be a family swim time on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a special rate of $1 per person. Children must be accompanied by a parent during the time block designated for families.

Pool Rentals

The pool will be available for after-hour rentals for $200 per two-hour time block, which includes lifeguards.

Rentals are not available on Mondays when the pool is closed, according to the council directive.

Walser said Tuesday that there are still time slots available for parties during the week, with all summer weekends already booked.

“I have a few Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday times left,” she said.

To inquire about availability for rental or to book a time slot, contact Walser at 432-386-0349.

Pool rental fees must be paid in full at the time the pool is reserved.
