Pool to close for season July 30

Albany’s municipal swimming pool at Webb Park will close for the season at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30.

The popular “cooling off” spot is still open for another three-plus weeks on Tuesdays through Sundays unless scheduling conflicts with lifeguards force more closures.

The pool was closed last Friday and Saturday because manager Meg Walser wasn’t able to line up enough workers. Most of the lifeguards are high school and college students who have camps and other activities during the summer months.

Normal hours are 12:30 to 5:30 pm. Tuesday through Saturday and 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Through this month, there will continue to be a family swim time on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a special admission rate of $1 per person. Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult family member age 18 or older during the family swim time.

The daily entrance fee during regular hours is $2.50 per person.
