Polo on the Prairie slated this weekend

The 33nd annual Polo on the Prairie fundraiser benefitting cancer research and patient programs at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center will be held at the Musselman Brothers’ Lazy 3 Ranch on Saturday, May 18, and although the actual polo competition will not take place because of wet field conditions, the rest of the celebration will continue as planned.

Tickets to the event must be purchased in advance, and range in price from $15 for children 12 and under, to $125 for adults, or more for those willing to sponsor a player or a team. To see if tickets are still available, call 866-262-9029, ext. 1 and leave a message, or send an email to events@mdanderson.org.

Joe Allen’s Pit Bar-B-Que will cater the evening meal, and Dwight Yoakam will perform at 7:00 p.m. The evening will end with a fireworks exhibition.

Henry Musselman has served on the MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors for three decades.

The Musselman family has hosted Polo on the Prairie since 1986, and during the 30-plus years since then, they have welcomed thousands of West Texans who have helped Polo on the Prairie raise over $6.8 million in the fight to end cancer.

According to MD Anderson’s media center, since MD Anderson opened in 1944, over 1.4 million people have sought care from the center, including nearly 14,000 from the West Texas area.
