Three members of the cast and crew of the Albany High School One Act Play received special recognition last week at the district contest held in Haskell.

While the Albany play did not place in the top three to advance to the bi-district contest, senior Brooks Neece was named to the All-Star Cast and senior Avery Kleiner received All-Star Technical Cast. Junior Briley Tabor was given an All-Star Cast Honorable Mention.

The group presented the drama “Tracks” by Peter Tarsi, which is set on a subway platform with a group of people examining their lives as their fate hangs in the balance.

“The kids did a really good job,” director Chanel Hayner said. “They performed well as an ensemble, and the judges noted that, as well as our set and staging.”

The schools that advanced at the contest, which was held at Haskell, were Cisco, Haskell, and Stamford.

The cast included Landon Balliew – high school boy, Lizzie Chavez – high school girl, Adam Hill – old man, Brooks Neece – business man, Chey’Anne Weaver – business woman, Jaci Chapman – waitress, Melissa Olivarez – nun, Avery Everitt – homeless girl, Briley Tabor – lawyer, and Tyler Chapman – professor.

Members of the crew included Avery Kleiner, Jaheim Newton, Zane Waggoner, Ann Davis, Isabel Alvarez, and Carisa Barrera.
