The Albany High School’s One Act Play cast and crew gave a public performance of  The Love of  Three Oranges on Monday, March 1 at the Albany High School auditorium.

District competition was scheduled for Wednesday, March 3 at the new performing arts center in Haskell and results were not available at press time.

Monday’s performance gave the students the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience before competing at district.

OAP director Jenny Scott was pleased with the performance by her students.

The play is “commedia dell’arte” which is a humorous theatrical presentation that is both scripted and improvised.

The Love of Three Oranges is  set in a fairy tale kingdom in the imaginary present.

The main character, Prince Tartaglia, is sent on a quest for three giant oranges, but the task proves to be more fruitful than anyone could have imagined.

The once-lonely prince discovers love, friendship, and laughter when he encounters wizards, monarchs, and a wild narrator who isn’t sure how far removed from the story he really is.
