Play to be performed Nov. 16
By Donnie A. Lucas
The Albany Junior High drama class will be presenting the comedy “The Trial of Goldilocks” by Joseph Robinette for the public on Tuesday, Nov. 16 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the auditorium.
The play will also be presented as the Junior High One-Act Play contest in Stamford on Nov. 18.
The play includes 16 cast members, two technical crew members, and two stagehands.
One of the lead roles has changed during the last week due to illness. Caroline Chapman will play the role of Goldilocks, while the Bear family actors are Breylon Billington as Papa Bear, Mimi Ivy as Mama Bear, and Madison Parrott as Baby Bear.
There will be no charge to attend the performance for the local audience on Tuesday.
The class has been working on the play most of this semester, according to director and class teacher Melanie Turner.
The comedy is performed entirely in verse, examining the fairy tale from three perspectives – the traditional story, the Bears’ viewpoint, and Goldilock’s version.
Other characters include the Bears’ animal friends, a hard-of-hearing judge, a harried clerk, two comic lawyers, and the jury.
“They have been working hard,” Turner said. “They will pull it all together and be ready by next week.”
