The annual Fandangle Sampler is moving back to Reynolds Bend on the Lambshead Ranch after an absence of more than 20 years.

According to artistic director Lorna Ayers, the Fort Griffin Fandangle Association board has set the date for the sampler on Saturday, April 17.

“Everyone is so excited to go back to Reynolds Bend for the sampler,” said Ayers. “It is a perfect location with a wide open patch of land, just like a mini-stage. There is plenty of room to perform and to have the horses and wagons.”

Ayers said board members have gone out to look at the area in preparation for the upcoming sampler.

“Reynolds Bend is already in pristine shape,” said Ayers. “We might have to mow, but that’s really about it.

Ayers also said that they have decided that the Sampler will be permanently scheduled for the third Saturday in April.

Rehearsals

Ayers said rehearsals for the Sampler will begin on Tuesday, March 23 at the Aztec.

“Everyone who wants to be in the show this year will need to come to this first rehearsal,” said Ayers. “Don’t wait to join because we only have a few weeks to get ready for the Sampler.”

Rehearsals will held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

“The show always focuses on the history of the area,” Ayers said. “There are so many fascinating stories, and we really try to focus on actual people and families.”

 Membership Letters

Membership letters for the Fort Griffin Fandangle Association will be mailed out this week, according to office manager Jamie Parsons.

The mailing of the traditional white envelopes with the green Fandangle label is considered the official start of the annual membership drive for the Fort Griffin Fandangle.

“People can still become a member of the association, even if they don’t receive a letter,” said Parsons. “Memberships are available online by going to www.fandangle.org and clicking on the ‘Join’ box.”

Membership Levels

Memberships are available in a variety of levels, starting with the Pioneer level, for those aged 65 and over, for $25 per year.

Longhorn is the next level and will cost $75. The  regular Patron level is $150. Bronze, Silver, and Gold patron levels are $250, $500, and $1,000 respectively.

For those who can contribute a little more to the 501(c)(3) organization, the Platinum level is $2,500 and Diamond is $5,000.

Supporters are encouraged to return their membership dues as soon as they can so they can enjoy all the benefits that go along with their charitable contribution to the production of the outdoor musical.

Summer Shows

The Prairie Theater has been the home of the summer Fandangle shows since it was built in 1965.

This year, four performances are scheduled at the Prairie Theater – June 18, 19, 25, and 26 – starting at 8:30 p.m. each evening.
