Moran’s seven seniors have picked up their caps and gowns, and the location of the graduation ceremony has been determined, but most everything else is still “kind of up in the air,” according to MISD superintendent Danny Freeman.

“I’m going to talk to Shackelford County judge Robert Skelton to find out what our options are,” Freeman said. “We hope we can have an in-person graduation ceremony with a very limited number of guests present on Friday, May 29, outside the south end of the gym, just inside of the WPA rock wall.”

Baccalaureate will be combined with commencement, and any gifts for the seniors from the First Baptist Church in Moran will be handed out at that time.

“We’ll continue to practice good social distancing and will provide hand sanitizer at all entrances,” said the superintendent. “We will also ask each attendee to fill out a pre-screening COVID-19 questionnaire to make sure they have not had any recent exposure or any symptoms.”

Prom and the end of year fun trip have been cancelled.

MISD will not hold a ceremony for the eighth grade graduates or for the kindergarten class this year but still hopes to be able to take photos of each of the kindergarten graduates in cap and gown.

Teacher Appreciation

Tuesday, May 5 was National Teacher Appreciation Day, and Freeman expressed his thanks for all of the staff’s hard work.

“We appreciate all the work our teachers are doing,” he said.
