Plans made for local car show

Another annual Albany ClassicCarShowisgearing up for Saturday,April 20 in downtownAlbany,withthe public urged to come view dozens of vintage cars and trucks from around the Big Country.

Organizer and car enthusiast Robert Snyder said he is hoping for a good turnout.

“There are actually several other shows in the area that same weekend, even though we try to get the word out,” Snyder said. “Wehavesetourdateonthe third weekend in April for about 20 years. We’re looking at another good show if the weather cooperates.”

Registration for exhibitors is from 8:00 until 11:00 a.m. the day of the show. There is a $20 entry fee, with over 25 classes to enter. Specialty and individual awards will be handed out for both cars and trucks.

Entries will be lined up on South First Street between First National Bank and the Bank Park, along with an adjacent vacant lot to the west if needed.

The show is open to all classics, antiques, hot rods, customs, trucks, and more.

Judging will be done by a four-panel team of judges from out of town, with the exception of the People’s Choice Awards for both a car and truck.

The local car club will host a hamburger fundraiser at the Bank Park on Friday night, starting about 5:15 p.m.

Prior to the traditional burn-out,whichisexpected tostartabout6:30p.m.,will bea“dragrace”foryounger children in several “Power Wheels” vehicles being readied by Angel Pacinins.

“This should be fun for the kids,” Snyder said. “We’ll set up cones in the street where the burn-out will take place.”

Several food vendors ae expected to set up at the Bank Park during the day on Saturday.
