Albany Methodist Church is conducting its annual pie drive to help the Abilene Salvation Army with its Thanksgiving meal.

Local residents can contribute by bringing homemade or purchased pies to the church’s Fellowship Hall by noon on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

“If people want to bring pies and leave them on the table, I’ll take them over to Abilene before Thanksgiving,” church member Lance Thomas said.

The Salvation Army serves 4,000 to 6,000 meals each month and is especially busy at Thanksgiving. The Abilene Salvation Army is located at 1726 Butternut Street.

“We’ve collected pies for the Thanksgiving meal at the Salvation Army for a number of years now,” Thomas said. “They like it, and I think it’s an easy way to contribute to the Salvation Army. Of course, people can volunteer to go over there and help serve or do other things.”
