Patsy to sing again this weekend

Always...Patsy Cline, opened last weekend at the Aztec to rave reviews, and two more performances of the musical will be offered this weekend.

The final two shows will be on Friday Aug. 17 and Saturday Aug. 18, at 7:30 p.m. each night, and as of this Monday, tickets were still available.

Tickets are $20 each for reserved seating on the first three rows, or $15 for general admission.

To purchase tickets, call Aztec Theater board member Tisha Wilkins at 325-660-7443.

“The first weekend was a sellout both days,” Wilkins said. “We had wonderful audiences, and the performances were great.”

George Harvick’s 50th high school reunion classmates from Throckmorton were in the audience for one of the shows last weekend.

Harvick plays the bass in the Bodacious Bobcat Band. Other band members include Randall Palmore on the steel guitar/guitar, Sandy Abel playing piano, Larry Braddy as the drummer, Lori Sims as fiddler, and John Caldwell on guitar.

Lorna Ayers plays the part of Patsy Cline.

Rounding out the cast, Pam Davis plays Louise.

“I’ve always been Louise,” Davis quipped.

With few changes, the  same cast performed the show locally in August of 2015, and across Texas 10 years prior to that.

“It is such a delight to get together again,” said Davis. “I think that we hit a lick this past weekend; they were really good shows. And Tisha has been just golden with everything that she has gotten done behind the scenes. We can’t thank her enough!”

Davis encouraged everyone to get their tickets early, to insure that they have a spot, and that they don’t have to stand in line at the ticket booth.

Recent improvements at the Aztec, including a new sound system and air conditioning system, have made the performances even more enjoyable, according to Caldwell.

“The new sound really has its Sunday clothes on,” he said. “This is the first live musical performance that we have had there since the new sound system was installed in February.”

Always...Patsy Cline was written by Ted Swindley 30 years ago, and features many of Patsy Cline’s hits.

The musical was based upon the true story of a Texas housewife who became friends with the famous singer.

“It’s been a good journey for us to be on for the last 13 years,” said Caldwell. “It’s been a lot of fun, and we appreciate the support from Albany.”

Any funds remaining after expenses are met will help support the Aztec Theater, said Wilkins.
