Painting party, fundraiser set
By Kathy Thomson
Several events are planned in Moran this Saturday, Dec. 14, including the monthly children’s painting party, the annual Moran Parent Teacher Organization holiday meal, and a bimonthly fundraiser.
Children’s
Painting Party
The monthly kids painting party will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Moran Community Center.
According to organizer Tiffany Waddell, over two dozen children have been coming to the painting parties.
“Everything is free, and lunch will be served,” said organizer Tiffany Waddell. “Please let me know how many you plan to have, so I can make sure to order enough pizza. Special needs children are always welcome.”
Waddell started the monthly art program so her special needs son Hunter would have a place to paint with friends.
PTO Holiday Meal
The Moran PTO will host its annual holiday meal at the school cafeteria at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, and everyone is welcome to attend, according to school administrative assistant Jeannie Ten Cate.
Attendees are asked to RSVP by calling the school at 325-945-3101.
Benefit Meal
Donnie Edgar and Allen Mosher are hosting a chili fundraiser at D.A.’s, which is located in the old American Legion Hall at 111 Ground Street in Moran, on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Jeff Martin will provide live music from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.
The building is BYOB, with a $5 cooler charge, and set-ups are available for a small charge.
A meal of deer and turkey chili, fixings, drink, and dessert will be available, and a donation of $10 a plate is suggested.
Once expenses are covered, monies raised will be donated to Gabe Boyett, a 2017 graduate of Moran High School who is battling cancer.
“He is still going back and forth to doctors, and he had a tumor removed a couple of weeks ago,” said Mosher. “Insurance just won’t cover everything. They have to pay for gas for the trips and hotel rooms when they have to stay overnight.”
Closet Angels
Moran’s Closet Angels will be closed on Monday, Dec. 23 for the Christmas holidays.
