Former Albany resident Gina Gillit Overby has been named the new high school principal at Anson.

Overby attend Albany schools from third grade until she graduated with honors in 1992. She then graduated Cum Laude from Abilene Christian University a few years later, and received her masters degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Curriculum and Instruction in 2006.

“I am beginning my 17th year in education, and I’m extremely excited about my new position,” said the new principal. “Anson ISD is a great district. The high school has the best staff, and I feel it is a privilege to lead them.”

Overby has taught middle school special education in Rotan, was the special education and dyslexia coordinator in Claude, served as the intervention specialist for seven districts through the West Central Texas Shared Service Arrangement in Sweetwater, taught fourth grade in Anson, and most recently taught English III, English IV, and theatre arts in Anson.

“I am very excited about this new adventure,” said Overby. “My husband Glen and I have been married for 19 years, and we have two children. Landry is a sophomore, and Laramy is in the eighth grade.”
