Organizations need to provide scholarship info

Albany News

Only a few local organizations have responded to Albany High School’s request to contact Ann Riley in the AHS office about upcoming scholarships to be given to graduating seniors.

“We’ve already sent instructions to the seniors and they have to get their letters back in by April 15,” said Riley. “It will sure make it easier if they know what scholarships there are to apply for.”

Riley had originally asked that representatives call her by March 23 with the information, but that deadline has already passed.

“Please let me know soon, preferably by this Friday, if your organization is planning to give a scholarship this year,” Riley said.

Although the Albany High School office hours are slightly shortened by the COVID-19 restrictions, Riley is still at her desk most weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and can be reached at 325-762-3974.

“I need to know if your organization intends to give a scholarship this year, and also, if you gave one last year and don’t plan to participate this year,” said Riley.

The senior application letters will be organized and ready for representatives of the organizations to pick up by 12:00 noon on Monday, April 20, and then the organizations should notify the school concerning their selections by Friday, May 1.

“Things are a little different this year, but we still need to know this information,” said Riley.
